Listed below is a brief description of the video equipment in the
facility and a block diagram showing the equipment
interconnections.
- SGI Indigo2 XZ computer with Galileo video
- converts computer graphics to video format (NTSC composite, s-video, etc.)
- controls recording process by sending commands to Alix V-LAN device
- Videomedia Alix-1 V-LAN transmitter/receiver
- receives standard set of commands from computer (V-LAN)
- translates them into commands specific for Sony Betacam VCR
- sends translated commands to Betacam VCR
- Sony UVW-1800 Betacam SP editing VCR
- receives commands from Alix
- records/edits/plays Betacam SP videocassettes
- Horita BSG-50 black burst generator
- provides sync signal to framelock computer, Alix and Betacam VCR
- Panasonic AG-1290P VHS VCR
- records video from Betacam VCR to make VHS copies
- Panasonic CT-1384Y color monitor
- displays computer video source during recording
- displays play back from either VCR
