Career Day Highlights
Advance registration is now closed. On-site registration will be available in the lobby of the Chemistry Building on the day of the conference.
The registration area in the lobby of the Chemistry Building will open at 7:30 a.m. Career Day begins at 8:30 a.m., and ends at approximately 4:00 p.m. A name badge, lunch ticket, session sign-ups, conference materials, and receipts will be available at the registration tables in the Chemistry Building lobby on the day of the conference.
Highlights of the 2001 GLCCC Career Day Program:
Plenary Lecture: by Dr. Ron Webb, The Procter & Gamble Company, entitled "Career Choices and Opportunities for B.S. and Ph.D. Chemists, Life Scientists, and Engineers";
Career Presentations: at which students learn about chemistry career paths first-hand from professional chemists representing Great Lakes area companies;
Career Panels: at which participants discuss the factors that affect career path choices;
Be a Lunch Host: Host a professional chemist at lunch and talk personally in a relaxed setting;
Workshops: Informal lunch hour workshops on resume writing, conducting a job search and summer internships;
Panel Discussion: at the end of the day on How to Land Your First Job ;
Resume Book: Submit your resume on the day of the conference (before 9:30 am!) and have it included in the 2001 GLCCC Career Day Resume Book. This book will be made available to all industrial participants. Resumes are limited to one page, one side;
Networking: Networking is a prime benefit of Career Day! There will be many opportunities to meet and mingle with our industrial Career Presenters;
Gala Lunch: The ever-popular GLCCC lunch will again be held for all conference registrants at no additional charge.
Timing:
The registration area in the lobby of the Chemistry Building will open at 7:30 a.m. Career Day begins at 8:30 a.m. with Dr. Webb's presentation, and ends at approximately 4:00 p.m. following the panel discussions. A name badge, lunch ticket, session assignments, conference materials, and receipts will be available at the registration table on the day of the conference.
Getting to the Chemistry Department at Michigan State University:
An MSU campus map and a Lansing area map are available online.
Visitors can park in the parking lots (between the east and west bound lanes of Shaw Lane), just West of the Chemistry Building.
